How To Easily Grab Attention On Social Media, And Convert It Into Paying Customers

The single biggest reason small business advertising doesn't go anywhere is down to not effectively grabbing people’s attention.

If you’re “just another one of those ads” people see every 3 seconds on their Instagram feed, your ad will never leave first gear.

But grabbing attention is actually super super simple…

And in the next 2 minutes, you’ll see exactly what this is, and how to apply it to your business to run an ad campaign that doesn’t get ignored.

How To Grab Anyone’s Attention (It’s not complicated…)

Let’s say I’m in a train station during peak rush hour, it’s absolutely rammed, I’m shuffling with the crowd trying to get to my 8:30 train, it’s hot, sweaty, and noisy as hell.

When all of a sudden I hear “Josh!” get called out from behind me

No matter what I was doing, or how busy I am, I’d instantly swivel around and see what was going on, and why my name was being called.

That’s how you grab attention…

Now I’m not saying you’ve got to call out every single person in your target audience, I don’t think anyone has the budget for that.

But here’s the principle behind the idea: The more a human resonates with something, the more they care when it is addressed.

Your target audience resonates with something that will grab their attention instantly when they read it.

All you need to do is find out what this something is.

What Your Audience Resonates With

Simply state what’s on their mind right now / what problems they’re facing

So if you’re a chiropractor, you want to start with:

“tired of lower back pain?”

If you’re a wedding planner:

“Are you stressed with planning your wedding?”

And then make this line the first line of your advert.

People who experience these problems will connect with your message, and you will effectively capture their attention.

This is the first half of the battle, most people get this part right, but it’s the next bit they don’t succeed at, which ultimately sees their ad get ignored.

Why most ads get scrolled past

Categorisation

Most small businesses naturally have no idea how to do their own marketing, so when they sit down to do it, they look to see what everyone else is doing so they can copy them and hope their ad will bring them results.

As this is what most people do coupled with how often we see ads on social media, people get used to seeing these types of ads, and can usually identify an ad from content they actually want to see on their Facebook feed pretty fast.

So if you are a chiropractor and you see 4 other local chiropractors posting ads titled “does your lower back hurt?” if you were to copy them, mathematically you’re only going to get a fifth of all the potential customers in your area.

In order to get 70, 80 or even 90% of the customers, you need to show up differently and stand out. There’s no exact science to this, but I’ll give you a couple of ideas from this idea you can use for inspiration:

  • The best way to cure lower back pain

  • How to cure lower back pain for the rest of your life

  • How this one habit will cure any lower back pain

You are still calling out the pain that they resonate with, you’re just showing up slightly differently, which will make you stand out in a good way.

If you want help creating ads that people won’t casually scroll by, feel free to drop me a message and I will be more than happy to help you out.

Have a great day

Josh
